Hunter’s ‘Saving Grace’ Is Cancelled

Holly Hunter is bidding goodbye to her gun-slinging role on TV series Saving Grace — the police drama has been cancelled by network bosses.

The actress plays an Oklahoma City police detective opposite Kenneth JohnsonLeon Rippy and Laura San Giacomo on the TNT show.

Reports suggest that high production costs are behind the cancellation, which will see the series end in 2010, after its final season airs next summer. However, network bosses have refused to confirm the rumors.

Programming executive Michael Wright says, “Since Saving Grace began in 2007, the series has both challenged and entertained viewers in ways few other shows on television ever dare. The show’s continued success is thanks to the amazing talents of Holly Hunter and (creator/writer/producer) Nancy Miller, along with a tremendous ensemble cast and a highly skilled production team. They have taken us on a unique journey, and we look forward to seeing where it will ultimately lead.”
