If you classify actor/director/writer James Franco as a conceited douchebag who is under the impression that he’s simultaneously a poet, a fine artist, and a moviestar, then we’ve got some very exciting news for you! Franco will be the next victim of Comedy Central’s imfamous celebrity roast.
In an awkwardly close-up Instagram video, The This Is The End actor muttered, “Hey y’all, wasup? I’m gonna get roasted on Comedy Central. Be sure to check it out. They wanted me to tell you that, alright?” And then Franco bizarrely lets out the strangest chuckle we’ve heard in quite some time. No we’re serious, watch it. It’s so strange.
President of Comedy Central’s content development and original programming , Kent Alterman said in a release, “If only James Franco was a more successful, multi-hyphenated, incessant creative risk taker in different media, he’d be the perfect person to roast. Oh well… I suppose we’ll just have to make do.” And we couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
To top it off, Franco chimed in squealing, “I’ve dreamed about this Roast for as long as I can remember.” Franco, we can assure you that no one’s more fired up about the righteous opportunity to burn you more than us.
The fateful roast will be taped in August and will later air on Comedy Central during Labor Day. Comedy Central also snagged the rights to Francophrenia, a Franco-directed documentary concerning his gig on General Hospital. So, if you can tolerate having Franco anymore on your television screen, tune into the film, which will play right after the roast.
