Though each season of FX’s hit drama American Horror Story will explore different haunting storylines and new characters, it seems that one thing will be familiar about the next iteration of the television horror mystery: word has it Jessica Lange is returning.
Creator Ryan Murphy confirmed this news on an episode of Watch What Happens Live, Andy Cohen’s late night Bravo series. Cohen asked, “You are recasting American Horror Story for next season. Will Jessica Lange make an appearance?” Murphy very candidly answered, with a simple, “Yes.” Perhaps those golden trophies – from both SAG and the Golden Globes – made that decision a little easier? Still, Murphy only confirmed that Lange will make an appearance. We have no idea in what capacity Lange will appear on the show. Plus, Murphy has said that if anyone returns, they will make their return appearance in an alternate role, so Lange’s next appearance is one grand mystery.
Now, before we bust out the bubbly – that’s what TV nerds do every time something they like happens, right? – 20th Century Fox says that no official deal has been made. But barring any great obstacle, we’re betting this is one guest star (or even supporting actress – one can only hope!) that everyone involved is going to be happy to see return.
