JFK Jr.: The TV Movie

So, what’s up these days in the land of “Who Wants to Marry a Multi-Millionaire?,” otherwise known as Fox? Why, the esteemed network is planning a fine TV biopic on an esteemed magazine publisher. Does that shock you? Does the subject matter sound a little dry? Would it shock you less if we told you the magazine publisher was John F. Kennedy Jr. As in son of Camelot. As in died-last-year-in-tragic-plane-crash?

Well, then maybe you can stomach the rest of this item: Fox says it’s optioned the rights to a 1999 quickie book on the late presidential scion. The network has only the loftiest of intentions for the project, but of course.

“From the moment he was born, the world fell in love with John F. Kennedy Jr.,” Fox exec Marci Pool says in today’s Hollywood Reporter, “and the desire to revisit his life remains undiminished.”

As previously announced, Fox’s sister cable network, the Fox Family Channel, also will help us revisit the Elian Gonzalez international custody battle.

JFK Jr., his wife and sister-in-law were killed July 18 in a single-plane crash near Martha’s Vineyard, Mass.
