Jimmy Fallon And Justin Timberlake Drop Another ‘History Of Rap’

While Stephen Colbert came out to record numbers on Tuesday night on the Late Show, Jimmy Fallon and The Tonight Show are putting up quite a fight in the ratings department. Last night, he had frequent guest/collaborator Justin Timberlake on the show to perform another installment (this is #6, it would seem) of “History of Rap.”
As they like to do, the twosome tore through 30 years of hip-hop history, backed by Fallon’s house band The Roots. This time around brought us some sharp renditions of “Rock the Bells” by LL Cool J, Whodini’s “Friends,” Fetty Wap’s “My Way,” and Drake’s “Know Yourself.” We also got treatments from the likes of MC Hammer, N.W.A, Snow, Big Sean, and Kendrick Lamar.
These guys were really all over the spectrum, so I’m sure there’s something in this performance for fans of all sub-genres of hip-hop.
Here’s the video:
The first “History of Rap” came to us back when Jimmy Fallon was on Late Night in 2010, so we’ve been averaging about one per year, which doesn’t seem too frequent to get burnt out on. And I don’t see many people complaining about too much Justin Timberlake in their lives, so don’t be surprised to catch a seventh installment sometime soon.
