Joe Pantoliano Upset About Headless Photo

Actor Joe Pantoliano is upset about a new Vanity Fair photo spread, which features his late Sopranos character decapitated.

The actor’s character, Ralph Cifaretto, lost his head on the show and now his headless image has been included in April’s Vanity Fair–to promote the final season of the Mob series.

But it isn’t Pantoliano in the shot–he refused to take part in the spread and a body double was drafted in for the Annie Liebovitz shoot.

And now the actor is angry because the photo has disturbed his three young daughters.

Pantoliano, aka Joey Pants, has fired off a furious letter to The Sopranos creator David Chase expressing his frustration and disappointment, and claiming his character’s inclusion in the Vanity Fair group photo is in poor taste.

In the letter he states his decapitated likeness is “despicable” and “diabolical,” adding Chase created the image without his permission.

Pantoliano was the only ‘deceased’ Sopranos star who turned down the chance to appear in the Vanity Fair shoot–former fan favorites Drea De Matteo and Vincent Pastore agreed to reprise their characters for the Vanity Fair spread.
