Jon Gosselin has gone through a number of jobs since Jon & Kate Plus 8 ended. The Ed Hardy-clad reality star might have gone through a bit of a public midlife crisis post-divorce, but he’s definitely trying to get his stuff together after his time in the spotlight.
Some of you might remember that Gosselin worked in IT during the series. After the show ended, Kate Gosselin revealed to People Magazine that he had resumed a job in his field. A month later, he’d been fired. Since then Gosselin has tried his hand in construction and worked as a waiter after allegedly being unable to find work elsewhere. He even was a celebrity DJ because that definitely doesn’t wreak of midlife crisis.
Recently, the 39-year-old father revealed that he was working at a TGI Friday’s in Lancaster, Pennsylvania as a cook. Apparently, Gosselin didn’t take the job for the money. Somehow, despite the fact that he’s got a legit gaggle of children to support, he doesn’t need the money at all. Nope, he’s working at TGI Friday’s for the pure passion of cooking. Dude must love that Jack Daniel’s chicken.
He said, “I love cooking, so my buddy calls me and asks me [because he] needed help in the kitchen. So, I’m like, ‘yeah.’ I’m really happy that TGI hired me for my cooking ability, and not for who I am. But I only work there two days a week, so I took my paycheck and I would just donate to charity. One week it was CMN — Children’s Miracle Network. So, I did it not for the money, I did it because I’m passionate about cooking. I really didn’t make a lot of money there.”
Surprise, Jon Gosselin didn’t make a lot of money being a cook at a chain restaurant. It definitely can’t compare to TLC’s fat paycheck. It is really sweet that he donated that money to charity, though.
Unfortunately, because he was exposed, the former reality star had to quit his dream job.
“I’m not going to work there anymore because now the trust and the teamwork is gone,” he said. “Because now someone took a picture of me and sold it to TMZ … and now I have to leave a job I’m passionate about.”
Poor Jon! That’s not the only heartbreaking thing happening to the father of eight. It’s no secret that his divorce with Kate was messy, but now he reports that he hasn’t seen one of his sons in over a year. In January, he told Steve Harvey that he “can’t talk” to his son and has “no communication.” Now, he’s alleging that his ex-wife is the reason behind it.
“[Kate’s] estranged me from my son,” he said. “It’s unfair of her to do that, considering she claims that she does her best for all my kids. Dah, dah, dah, drama. ‘I’m perfect.’ No one’s perfect, honey. Trust me.”
Aside from his part time job slinging Jack Daniels chicken, Gosselin is currently a DJ. Allegedly, he makes “good money” from the job, so good for him.
