Kansas county commissioner arrested after historic Metallica gig

A former Kansas county commissioner has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a police officer after Metallica’s record-breaking show in Wichita on Monday (04Mar19).
A convenience store clerk called the cops to report “an intoxicated person”, who turned out to be local councilman James Skelton.
He had reportedly been separated from his family after the Metallica gig and was lost, cold and missing his cell phone and cash.
Two Wichita police officers found Skelton yelling at the clerk and demanding a ride home.
“It was very confusing, ’cause I couldn’t believe they wouldn’t even call me a ride or an Uber,” Skelton told KAKE.com. “I explained my situation. I had no coat on; I was already freezing.”
But he was “belligerent” with one of the police officers, who offered “multiple times to provide assistance”
According to a law enforcement spokesman, Skelton refused and “demanded a ride from the officer”
“He became visibly angry during the interaction, approached the officer and the officer had to push Skelton away from him.”
Skelton told KAKE.com he was “wrongly arrested”.
Meanwhile, Metallica celebrated an attendance record at the gig the councilman had attended – he was one of 15,690 fans who saw the heavy rockers at the Intrust Bank Arena as part of the second leg of the band’s WorldWired tour.
