Former Frasier star Kelsey Grammer is eying a return to primetime TV by starring in the pilot for a new show–just weeks after his latest sitcom was axed by Fox.
Grammer‘s most recent TV project Back to You was cancelled earlier this month after only one season–with Fox blaming last year’s writers strike for the falling ratings and ultimately the show’s demise.
But the 53-year-old actor is keen to get back to work and has signed up to star in a pilot episode of new ABC comedy Roman’s Empire.

The program will also star Nick Thune and Christine Woods.
