Kevin Smith Lands His Own Talk Show

ALTIt’s pretty much been all downhill for Kevin Smith since 1994’s Clerks — and not just because it was an indie masterpiece — which might explain why he’s ready to try his hand at TV.

In some of the strangest news in the daytime-television arena since at least yesterday’s announcement that James Franco would once again be returning to General Hospital, “Silent Bob” has landed his own talk show. Seriously.

The scat-dialogue proponent will reportedly host The Kevin Smith Project (working title), a 30-minute syndicated talk show that’ll touch on all the days hot topics and feature one celeb interview … and the obligatory co-host.

As per an email Vulture got its hands on from the show’s booking staff, the series will be “a daily 30-minute entertainment talk show for syndication … The idea is a Regis and Kelly talk show at the opposite end of the day for the opposite kind of audience — the 12-34 demo. Kevin and his co-host will talk water-cooler topics at the top of the show, followed by a celebrity interview and a comedy segment from the field (a la The Daily Show). Each show will feature one celebrity interview.”

So, similar to Regis and Kelly and The Daily Show, and aiming to attract 12-year-old viewers? Kevin Smith is obviously the right choice.
