Synopsis

While they sound like ingredients to a witch's cauldron, leeches, maggots and bees are all receiving respect from the medical community for their talents healing the sick. Maggots applied to wounds consume only dead and infected tissue, leaving the healthy tissue to heal. Not only are they much less expensive than traditional therapies, they're more effective and selective, reducing a patient's expense and cutting healing time in half. Leeches effectively reduce swelling and bruises, with practically no scarring or internal tissue damage. Bee venom is currently being researched as a possible treatment for MS and chronic fatigue syndrome. After a session of several bee stings, patients are up and active, with very few symptoms of their ailments.
