Letterman Apologizes To His Wife

Disgraced talk-show host David Letterman has publicly apologized to his wife for cheating on her before they were married.

Speaking for the first time since exposing an extortion attempt that set out to shame the TV personality as a love rat, and confessing to a string of affairs with colleagues, Letterman had a special message for his wife Regina Lasko during a taping of his Late Show program on Monday.

In his monologue at the beginning of the show, he said, “She has been horribly hurt by my behavior, and when something happens like that, if you hurt a person and it’s your responsibility, you try to fix it.

“At that point, there’s only two things that can happen — either you’re going to make some progress and get it fixed, or you’re going to fall short and perhaps not get it fixed. So let me tell you folks, I got my work cut out for me.”

He also apologized to the ex-staff members he has inadvertently dragged into the scandal.

Letterman added, “I’m terribly sorry that I put the staff in that position… My thanks to the staff for, once again, putting up with something stupid I’ve gotten myself involved in.”
