Liam Hemsworth’s Quibi series Most Dangerous Game is reportedly on the hunt for a new home after it was confirmed the streaming service is to close down after just six months.
Following confirmation on Wednesday (October 21, 2020) that movie mogul Jeffrey Katzenberg and his partner Meg Whitman’s mobile platform will be shuttered, Variety reported Hemsworth’s series is now being shopped to other networks.
CBS bosses partnered with the service to bring the TV brand to younger viewers but, following Wednesday’s news, they are now looking for new hosts for their content.
Most Dangerous Game, the dystopian action-thriller which also starred Christoph Waltz and explores the limits of how far someone would go to fight for their life and their family, was renewed for a second season just prior to the closure.
“The world has changed dramatically since Quibi launched and our standalone business model is no longer viable,” Katzenberg said while announcing Quibi’s end.
“I am deeply grateful to our employees, investors, talent, studio partners and advertisers for their partnership in bringing Quibi to millions of mobile devices.”
Despite attracting big star names such as Jennifer Lopez, Reese Witherspoon, LeBron James, and Steven Spielberg for its short-form programming, the app currently has just 500,000 paying customers – after initially attracting more than seven million.
