Louie Anderson and Kate McKinnon are early winners at 2016 Emmy Awards

Comedians Louie Anderson and Kate McKinnon kicked off the 2016 Primetime Emmy Awards by taking home the first prizes of the night.
Anderson, 63, earned his first Emmy nomination for his gender-bending role as Zach Galifianakis’ TV mother on Baskets, and on Sunday (18Sep16), he was named Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
The veteran actor beat the likes of Modern Family’s Ty Burrell and Veep’s Tony Hale and Matt Walsh to land the honour, and as he stepped onstage to accept the title, he quipped, “I have not always been a very good man, but I play one hell of a woman!”
He went on to dedicated the award to his late mother.
Meanwhile, Ghostbusters actress McKinnon was another first-time Emmy winner, scoring the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Saturday Night Live.
Clearly stunned by the win, an emotional Kate exclaimed, “This is really crazy, you guys!”, as she fought back tears to get through her acceptance speech.
Another early winner was Aziz Ansari and his Master of None co-creator Alan Yang, who landed the Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series prize for the episode titled, Parents.
The 68th annual Primetime Emmy Awards are being hosted by Jimmy Kimmel at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
