Maverick boss helps raise $150,000 for victims of New Zealand mosque terror attacks

Music mogul Guy Oseary has raised almost $150,000 (£113,600) as part of a fundraising initiative sparked by the New Zealand mosque attacks.
The Maverick boss asked friends and fans to help the families of the 50 people killed in last week’s (15Mar19) shoot-outs in Christchurch, and they came through in droves, blowing past the $100,000 (£76,000) goal of a GoFundMe challenge.
The cash will benefit the families of the victims of the terrorist attack.
Judd Apatow, Amy Schumer, and Red Hot Chili Peppers star Flea are among the stars who have donated, while Oseary’s longtime pal Madonna offered up $10,000 (£7,600) to the cause.
The attack on two mosques in Christchurch, carried out by a twisted white supremacist, cost 50 Muslims their lives.
Announcing his fundraising effort, Oseary wrote: “My heart breaks for the victims and for their families… I’ve started a gofund me campaign to support those affected by this tragedy at this very difficult time, and making a personal contribution of $18,000 on behalf of my family to the victims of this terrorist attack.
“We will work with GoFundMe to ensure all funds are transferred to an organization providing support to the families and community. We will provide additional information about the distribution of funds as soon as it becomes available and are actively researching the best organizations in New Zealand to receive what is raised.”
In a post this week, he added he felt it was vital as an Israeli Jew “to show love and care for the Muslim community on another painful, sad day”.
