Diego Boneta grateful for support as Luis Miguel on TV

Rock Of Ages star Diego Boneta is grateful for the support he’s receiving as he portrays singer Luis Miguel on TV.
The actor and singer admits he was nervous about taking on a living legend in the Telemundo television series Luis Miguel, but he has been blown away by the warm wishes of the star’s fans.
“It was something that we all put a lot of time, blood, sweat and tears into for the past two years,” he told Billboard. “It took me a year to just prep for the project, and then another year to shoot it, and it’s quite amazing to see this positive, warm reaction.”
Boneta insists his Miguel project is “the role of a lifetime”, adding, “Acting-wise, it’s such a complex character who is an icon that everyone knows. I’m getting to humanise this living legend, ’cause no one really knows anything about him.”
But he admits it wasn’t easy getting into character: “The tooth gap, the tanning; I dropped like 20 pounds. And then on the singing side, that was I think probably the biggest challenge, ’cause I had to sound like someone who wasn’t me, and that someone happens to be one of the best singers alive…,” he explained. “It was like almost learning to sing again, just for this role.”
