Millie Bobby Brown Didn’t Know What A Record Player Was Before ‘Stranger Things’

Millie Bobby Brown was born in the new millennium which means the Stranger Things star was pretty out of touch with the show’s ’80s setting. In a visit to The Late Show, the 12-year-old admitted that she had no idea what a record player was.

“I don’t know what that is,” she told Stephen Colbert. “It’s a square. It’s got a circle. No…and then the crew was like, ‘Just play it!’ and I played it and I was like, ‘Why does it like, got that stick? What?’ I’m used to like iPods.”

Since her first introduction to a record player, Millie’s become quite the vinyl addict. She got a record player for Christmas and has collected records from Amy Whinehouse, Adele, Beyonce and Ed Sheeran. We’re also kind of wondering if she learned to rap to Nicki Minaj because she was playing Kanye West on vinyl. If that’ the case, she’s officially cooler than us (as if she wasn’t already).

“I got the vinyl,” she said. “And I was like, ‘this is my life now.'”

When we were 12, we were busy having braces and experimenting with unfortunate-looking, frosted eye shadow, but Millie is collecting vinyl. Wow.

Checkout the full interview above. Millie also did a funny spoof of Eleven with Colbert as ‘Papa.’ Watch the skit below.
