A group of six young clones awaken abroard a ship named Deepwater Black only to discover that they are on a mission to repopulate a now-dead Earth and restore humanity to the solar system.
Somewhere in the far off future, an unknown enemy has loosed a lethal plague throughout the galaxy. In an effort to save mankind, scientists launch the Deepwater Black, a deep space vessel carrying precious human genetic material designed to restore mankind. The Deepwater's crew is comprised of six, genetically-enhanced clones frozen in cryo-sleep, who each possess specific skills and talents that will enable them to carry out the mission. The Deepwater's computer system is programmed to awaken the crew as the ship approached Earth. The clones are roused prematurely, however, when the ship falls under alien attack. Now the crew must face the daunting task of carrying out the mission while battling alien enemies, all without the capacity of their full knowledge of the ship, themselves and their purpose in the universe.
The crew consists of Reb, the fiery captain and chief engineer; Yuna, navigator and confidant of Reb; Gret, communications expert and link to the past; Bren, military man and chief of defense; Zak, computer expert; Lise, medical officer; and Gen, the holographic computer image in an adult presence who guides the crew through their mission and provides instructions.
