It looks as though Bryan Fuller’s residence on Mockingbird Lane will have been quite the short-lived one. After airing the pilot of the writer/producer’s modern day The Munsters reboot as a Halloween special, NBC has opted not to produce further episodes of the series. Fuller tweeted the news of his series’ demise on Thursday:

The network had originally planned Mockingbird Lane as a series to launch in the fall of 2012 before shafting its pilot to a Friday night position amid the content-appropriate Halloween season. Despite the colossal ratings it drew for the time slot (5.4 million viewers), NBC is severing production on Fuller’s passion project, perhaps in light of mixed critical reception, or the ostensibly weighty production value warranted by a series involving shapeshifting monsters, pet dragons, and elaborate laboratory equipment.
However, this hardly puts an end to NBC’s relationship with Fuller. The creator of such morbid comedies as Pushing Daisies and Dead Like Me is presently developing for the network a television series revolving around Hannibal Lecter, the psychopathic genius who gained cinematic notoriety in The Silence of the Lambs. Fuller’s Hannibal will star Mads Mikkelson as the titular killer, with Hugh Dancy as FBI Agent Will Graham.
