MTV prepares summer reality shows

MTV is preparing to hit its 18-24 year old audiences with four new series slated to launch by early July, according to The Hollywood Reporter. MTV will aim to stay true to its music roots, but also will try to capitalize its audience’s hunger for reality and game show programming. The four shows are: Becoming, a rock fantasy in which contestants spend 48 hours with their favorite rock star; Who Knows the Band, a game show in which panelists tell tales and contestants have to guess which band it is; Flipped, a documentary series that follows a group of teens living on the edge of trouble; and Kidnapped, in which one of four friends is kidnapped and the remaining have to follow clues and trails to free their friend. The four series will be featured in MTV’s primetime series 10 Spot at 10 p.m. starting in late June.
