Napoleon's Lost Fleet | 1998
Documents the recovery of sunken ships from Napoleon Bonaparte's fleet found in the eastern harbor of Alexandria, Egypt, during an August 1998 expedition led by French marine archeologist Franck Goddio. Among items recovered were scores of gold, silver and copper coins from Napoleon's flagship L'Orient, which sank on August 1, 1798 in a battle led by Britain's Admiral Nelson. Navigational instruments, swords, guns and several personal items which belonged to Napoleon's soldiers were also found. Dramatic reenactments convey life abroad French and British ships at the end of the 18th century.
