Michael Apted’s son dies from cancer at 47

The son of former Bond movie mastermind Michael Apted has lost his battle with colon cancer at the age of 47. Sound editor Paul Apted died in Los Angeles on Friday (04Jul14), according to The Hollywood Reporter.
He followed his director father into Hollywood and enjoyed a career spanning over two decades.
His recent projects included Bruce Willis’ A Good Day to Die Hard, Hugh Jackman films The Wolverine and Prisoners, and the big screen adaptation of hit novel The Fault in Our Stars.
Paul had also worked with his British dad on a handful of movies, including Hugh Grant and Gene Hackman’s Extreme Measures in 1996 and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader in 2010.
A memorial service is due to take place at Mount Sinai Hollywood Hills next Sunday (13Jul14), while a funeral service will follow in the U.K. at a later date.
