Nicholas Nickleby | 2001
An adaptation of Charles Dickens' novel "Nicholas Nickleby." Young Nicholas, his sister Kate and their mother must endure hardship after being left penniless by the death of Mr. Nickleby. In their poverty and desperation, they seek help from Nicholas' uncle, the difficult and oppressive Ralph Nickleby. Things turn worse as young Nicholas' independent attitudes cause friction with his rigid uncle. Not to be defeated, Nicholas vows to gain his own fortune so that he and his family can be free of his Uncle Ralph's controlling ways.
