The makers of Gossip Girl have denied they are planning to launch a spinoff series of the hit TV show.
Executives at The CW, on which the series airs, were reportedly planning to capitalize on the program’s success and launch a secondary show featuring one of the main characters.
The hit teen drama is based on books of the same name by Cecily von Ziegesar–and the novels were followed by a spinoff book series called It Girl.
Schwartz says, “Not sure how this got out there–but no plans for spinoff at this moment. The books do have a spinoff, but we have nothing in the works right now other than making sure season 2 gets off to a great start.”
