Cable TV sports commentator Keith Olbermann has resigned as a host and executive producer of a weekly hour-long Sunday-night sports news series on Fox Sports Net, Reuters reports. In addition, Olbermann will no longer host the pre-game show Saturday Baseball Game of the Week, which was to begin its new season in June. Fox hired Olberman in 1999 in hopes to match his former ESPN glory, but reduced his workload to one night a week after his show did not increase the network’s ratings. Olbermann is leaving near the end of his three-year contract, which pays him about $900,000 a year.
