Phil Spector bans ex-wife from singing her hits

Jailed music mogul Phil Spector is tormenting his ex-wife Ronnie from behind bars by refusing to allow her to perform her signature songs at live concerts. Ronnie Spector shot to fame in the 1960s as lead singer of girl group The Ronettes, and became known for her distinctive vocals on their hits Be My Baby and Baby, I Love You.
Both songs were co-written by Spector and he still holds rights to the tracks, which his ex-wife alleges he uses to ban her from performing them at her live shows just to spite her.
Ronnie, who was married to Spector for six years until 1974, when she walked out on him alleging he had kept her prisoner at their California home, tells Mojo magazine, “You can only leave the awful things behind you when those awful things stop happening to you. The day he gets on with his life and leaves me alone will be the happiest day of my life next to the birth of my children. Whatever he can do to cause trouble for me career-wise he will. Forty years after I left him, he still is at it.”
Spector is serving 19 years-to-life in jail in California for shooting actress Lana Clarkson dead at his mansion in 2003.
