Synopsis

Television movie based on Agatha Christie's novel "Lord Edgware Dies" featuring the Belgian detective Hercule Poirot. Actress Jane Wilkinson has never hidden the fact that she is looking for a wealthier husband, so when her husband is murdered she is the prime suspect. The actress hires Hercule Poirot to investigate and prove her innocence. Japp is convinced that Jane killed her husband, despite the fact that she was at a dinner party at the time of the murder, but when Edgware's butler has disappeared with a large sum of money, the finger of suspicion points at him. Poirot's investigations reveal that several other suspects have good reason to have wished Lord Edgware dead, but every one of them -- his wife's ex-lover Bryan, his bullied daughter Geraldine, his debt-ridden nephew Roland, and his seemingly devoted secretary Miss Carroll -- has a water-tight alibi for the night of the murder.
