Romano then had to hold back the tears when co-star Brad Garrett paid him the
ultimate compliment.

He said, “Ray, I wanna thank you for really the greatest time of my life,
career-wise, and I wanna thank you for your generosity as a human, as an actor,
as a comedian. I am better for being with you and being around you.”

Then, Patricia Heaton, who plays Romano‘s wife on the show, sobbed as she
said, “He’s a wonderful actor and a great guy.”

The tears continued as Doris Roberts thanked her cast mates for “nine
wonderful years with my friends, my family”.

The final episode of the show, which has been a ratings winner in America for
years, will air on May 16.
