Relativity Grabs Rights To ‘The Bible Code’ Series

The Bible CodeNow that Dan Brown’s two best sellers have hit the big screen, it’s time for another religious “code” to make its way to Hollywood. Today, Relativity Media announced that it has purchased the rights to The Bible Code series – a best-selling literary franchise by Michael Drosnin that is based on a 3000-year old code found in the Bible.

While The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons were fictional stories that followed Robert Langdon on mysterious adventures, The Bible Code series is actually non-fiction. The code, which was found by an Israeli scientist and confirmed through the U.S. National Security Agency, shows us historical events and predicts what may come in the future. Apparently, the code predicted events such as the September 11, 2001 attacks and the election of President Obama. Wait, what? Really? Where were the rest of us when they were predicting these things?

The studio is developing the series for release in 2012, and with a subject as intriguing as this, I’m sure they won’t have any trouble making a huge chunk of change with the rights.

My big question is how they’ll turn the non-fiction science story into a full length feature. Will they simply focus on the code itself, or give us a few characters to fall in love with? All I know for sure is that if they decide to lay all this knowledge on a fictional main character, they had better make sure he has better hair than Tom Hanks with his old man coif in Ron Howard’s painful adaptations.
