Synopsis

Adaptation of Julie Garwood's novel "For the Roses." In 1866 New York, a gang of orphaned street kids "adopts" an hours-old abandoned girl, whom they name Mary Rose. The "family" leaves New York to start a new life in the American West, where they eventually establish a thriving Montana cattle ranch, which they name Rose Hill. Their sister falls in love with a suspected cattle rustler, who ends up killing one of the brothers. Disillusioned and bitter, Mary Rose decides to return to New York. While she's gone, terrible things happen to her adoptive family and to her beloved Rose Hill. Eventually, she returns and is reunited with her family.
