Sammy | 1999
An animated comedy series loosely based on comedian David Spade's relationship with his real-life father. James Blake is a twentysomething Hollywood celebrity who stars in "Hey, Rebecca," a fictional hit sitcom about a man pretending to be gay so he can share a Manhattan apartment with a supermodel. Suddenly, his absentee and philandering father Sammy reappears to try to reestablish his relationship with his family. While James' younger handyman brother Todd, eagarly embraces his father's return, his older brother and business manager, Gary, is understandably reluctant to let Sammy back into their lives. James hovers cautiously in between, doubtful that his father has changed but nonetheless willing to give him another chance. With a passion for fast women, easy money and good times, Sammy's return causes the lives of James and his family to turn upside down. Also shaping James' career are his agent, Mark Jacobs, and Kathy Kelly, his efficient assistant.
