Synopsis

The first of six telefilms starring Louis Gossett Jr. as Gideon Oliver, an anthropology professor who encounters adventure and solves baffling mysteries as he travels around the world. In this movie, the apparently pointless murder of a woman Gideon once loved puts him into contact with a tough New York police detective, who believes that this killing is tied to a Satanic cult. Gideon's daughter soon becomes involved, and the mysterious power of a man who was reported dead long ago finally leads Gideon into a midnight encounter in an abandoned church with the fanatical Satanists.
