The Masked Singer judge Robin Thicke was “the most shocked I’ve ever been” when rapper Lil Wayne was unveiled as the first contestant to be eliminated on the show’s third season.
The singing contest, which sees celebrities perform in an array of elaborate disguises is a bid to outwit the judges and take home the coveted title, returned for its third outing on Sunday (February 2, 2020), as six stars took the stage for their debut performances.
Contestants including The White Tiger, The Turtle, The Llama, Miss Monster, and The Kangaroo all took the stage, but after the studio audience voted, it was The Robot who was sent home – but not before removing its mask to reveal the famous face beneath.
As Wayne revealed himself, following his performance of Are You Gonna Go My Way by Lenny Kravitz, judges Robin, Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong, and Jenny McCarthy, and guest panelist Jamie Foxx were all in shock – after guessing his identity as stars including Floyd Mayweather, Johnny Knoxville, and Flavor Flav.
The Bling Bling star confessed he chose the disguise “for my kids,” who are big fans of the show and would be excited to see a robot singing.
This season 18 celebrities in total will compete, with the next six hitting the stage when the show returns on Fox on Wednesday.
