Billy Joel joins Paul McCartney at Nassau show

Paul McCartney recruited Billy Joel to help him wrap up a record run of New York state shows in Nassau on Tuesday night (26Sep17).
The Piano Man joined the headliner for Beatles covers Let It Be, Get Back, and Birthday as McCartney wowed fans at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale.
McCartney made history when he sold out all four of the major venues in New York and New Jersey as part of a month-long east coast swing of U.S. dates.
He’ll wrap up the gigs on Wednesday (27Sep17) with a second show at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum before closing out the U.S. run of his One on One tour with a pair of shows in Detroit, Michigan on Sunday (01Oct17) and Monday (02Oct17).
It’s not the first time the two music legends have teamed up onstage – McCartney joined Joel during the Uptown Girl star’s run of shows at New York’s Shea Stadium in 2008, and Joel returned the favour in 2011 when he hit the stage at McCartney’s Yankee Stadium concert.
And Joel’s Tuesday night appearance wasn’t McCartney’s only big surprise for fans on his current tour this month (Sep17) – he recently invited Bruce Springsteen to join him onstage during a gig at Madison Square Garden.
The Boss and his E Street Band sidekick Steven Van Zandt joined the headliner for his encore performance of the Beatles’ I Saw Her Standing There.
