Statue of Liberty: Building a Colossus | 2000
Documentary about the Statue of Liberty, one of America's most recognizable and revered icons. At a dinner party in France in the early 1800s, a radical named La Bolet sat across from a 31-year-old sculptor named Auguste Bartholdi. They came up with the idea to create a colossal monument to commemorate the historic ties between the U.S. and France. This program uses computer-generated animation to reveal the complex engineering that went into the 151-foot high Lady Liberty, and contains footage of her $260 million restoration.
