Samantha Womack stalker receives suspended sentence

A fan accused of stalking British actress Samantha Womack has been handed an eight-week suspended prison sentence.
Peter Rombough pleaded guilty to stalking during an appearance at Great Yarmouth Magistrates’ Court in Norfolk, England on Monday (21Dec15), and admitted to travelling to the EastEnders star’s home in Bedfordshire, England twice last year (14).
Womack detailed her fears surrounding the incidents in a statement submitted to the court, revealing she was forced to called in police and step up her security.
“These events have had a massive impact,” she wrote. “I can’t stop thinking about it. He’s a total stranger, but I’m concerned about his well-being and do hope he is okay and needs to seek some help.”
Rombough was hit with a two-year restraining order and ordered to enrol in a mental health programme. He also received an eight-week prison sentence, which was suspended for one year.
“We must disregard that this was a high profile victim,” Magistrate Robin Hornby said. “Stalking is stalking and it does not matter who it is. It is not a nice thing.”
