‘Stranger Things’ Officially Begins Filming Season 2

Stranger Things may have just gotten renewed, but the breakout Netflix hit is already filming season two.

Netflix gave season two the green light in August, and the show appears to have already begun filming around the building used for Hawkins Lab. Reddit user Hollygorock snapped some photos of trailers and film equipment in the building’s parking lot.

They look pretty ready to go! So many lights are on.

What does this mean? Well, season two is definitely going to have some scenes in Hawkins Lab. Are we going to find out what happened to Eleven’s father? If they’re filming back at the research center, we’re inclined to think he’s still alive (providing the scenes aren’t flashbacks).

We already know the Upside Down is going to be explained more deeply in season 2. Matt Duffer spoke in an interview about the whole concept. He said:

“We kinda just peeled back the curtain and revealed a tiny bit of the Upside Down,” says Matt. “So we definitely want to explore a little bit more. There’s a lot we don’t know about the Upside Down at the end of season 1.”

Since they’re filming at Hawkins Lab, we think that the portal to the Upside Down will be a major focus, and we’re excited to learn the ins and outs of how it functions.

We do know that the Duffers both confirmed the series would be a continuation of season one and take place in Hawkins, Indiana. We’re so excited to see what kind of story they’ve cooked up.
