A look at the growing epidemic of suicide in America, which records more suicides than homicides each year. The program looks at the impact on survivors, as well as those who have attempted suicide. Service professionals at the front lines of the battle against this phenomenom, from EMT crews to hotline operators to psychologists, provide a portrait of the anguish that may lead to suicide. The program features a companion guide at HBO.com in partnership with the National Alliance For the Mentally Ill (NAMI) that provides information for distinct audiences, general information and resources on suicide. The site also includes a training component developed with the National Association of EMS Educators, for emergency medical technicians.
