The actor credits the action series with reviving his flagging career and insists he is eternally grateful to TV bosses for giving him the opportunity.
And although Sutherland longs to branch out into new movie and theater projects, he is determined to stay with 24 as long as producers want him.
He says, “If I was going to liken 24 to a girlfriend, 24 has been really good to me. And I need to be really good back.
“There are plays I want to do. There are so many different things I would like to do, but I was so fortunate to be part of something like 24 that my focus is still on that right now.”
The 42-year-old has confirmed he will return to make an eighth season of the program, and is hoping to eventually take the show to the big screen.
