‘Black-ish’ is one of ABC’s biggest shows, but since it’s with real people, the kids eventually grow up (How long has Bart Simpson been 12?). With that, the kids go off to do their own thing, and normally you don’t see them for a couple of episodes if you ever see them again. ABC’s sister network Free Form wants to expand on that with ‘Grown-ish’.
The series will follow Zoey Johnson (Yara Shahidi) as she ventures off to college. She’s the popular, entitled, stylish, and socially active one that wants to go to college to shine. She thinks she knows everything but when she finds herself in college she’s in for a rude awakening. There are other people that are out there and she will (spoiler?) becomes best friends with over their time at college.
In the above interview, Yara Shahidi talks about what the series is, Jordan Buhat explains how the different characters have different experiences, Francia Raisa discusses how this show is for everyone of all ages, and Trevor Jackson tells us how the writing is so hilarious.
Grown-ish premieres tonight, January 3, 2018, at 8/7c on Free Form.
