The Frog Princess: An Animated Special From the "Happily Ever After: Fairy Tales For Every Child" Series | 1999
A retelling of a classic fairy tale from a feminist point of view. In a faraway kingdom, a young prince named Gavin eagerly awaits his chance to ascend to the throne -- until an unexpected turn of events leaves him with a frog for a wife. Instead, King Big Daddy decides that Prince Gavin and his Frog Princess Lylah must compete in three royal events with royal siblings Prince Rip and Prince Bobby and their brides to determine his successor. In each of the three events -- baking a royal cake, sewing a royal coat and dancing with grace -- Gavin and Lylah come in first, proving that an inexperienced prince and a frog can surpass preconceived notions of their capabilities. Despite their victories, Lylah realizes that Prince Gavin still sees her as just a frog. Her feelings hurt, she disappears into the swamp. Only then does Gavin realize how much he cares for her, and sets out to win back his princess.
