Synopsis

While trailing the notorious Butch Cavendish gang (also known as the "Hole-in-the-Wall Gang") six Texas Rangers are attacked and left for dead in Bryant's Gap canyon. Tonto, a Potawatomie Indian, discovers the lone survivor of the attack, John Reid, brother of the slain ranger captain. While nursing Reid back to health, Tonto digs six graves, the sixth marked with the name John Reid, to conceal from Cavendish the fact that one ranger had lived to avenge the others.

At Tonto's suggestion, Reid fashions a mask from the black cloth of his brother's vest and, posing as an outlaw, tracks down and apprehends the Cavendish gang. The series, set in Texas during the nineteenth century, follows the trail of the mysterious masked man, the Lone Ranger, and his Indian companion Tonto, as they strive to maintain law and order in the lawless Old West.
