Synopsis

The Metropolitan Opera honors the centennial of the death of Giuseppe Verdi with a program of selections drawn from historic telecasts. From the beginning, Verdi's operas have been a crucial part of the Met's repertoire. The company has presented the familiar Verdi operas "Aida," "Otello," Falstaff" and "Un Ballo in Maschera," as well as lesser-known works, such as "Stiffelio," "I Lombardi" and "Luisa Miller," many conducted by artistic director James Levine.
