Bolshoi Ballet boss to finally return to Russia

The artistic director of the Bolshoi Ballet is to return to his native Russia for the first time in eight months after flying to Germany to treat injuries sustained in a horrific acid attack. Sergei Filin was left partially blind after a corrosive substance was thrown in his face in Moscow in January (13) and he subsequently left the country to seek specialist treatment in Europe.
It has now emerged that Filin will return to Russia this weekend (14-15Sep13).
A spokeswoman for the Bolshoi Ballet, Katerina Novikova, has revealed she hopes Filin will be able to return to work at the company, but adds to Reuters, “To what extent he will be able to take part in the life of the troupe, that will become clear in the nearest future.”
Ballet star Pavel Dmitrichenko admitted to colluding with two accomplices to attack Filin, reportedly to avenge artistic jealousies within the company, but insisted he did not condone the extreme violence used.
