The Quest (04/16/00) | 1999
Captain Dave Baume and the crew of The Quest are anchored 20 miles off the coast of Belize on one of the world's largest barrier reefs. A team of scientists catch vampire bats and attach radio transmitters to them in hopes of bolstering conservation efforts, and they encounter two adopted howler monkeys that have been raised by humans since they were babies, but must now be returned to the wild. Meanwhile, The Quest team assists dolphin researcher Barbara Bilgre as she searches the water for some "old" friends. Four years ago on the isolated atoll called Turneffe, Bilgre discovered a community of bottlenose dolphins. If the team can help her find them, they will further her theory that dolphins can be territorial and not always wanderers. Next, the ship heads towards the Bahamas to dive a mysterious cave deep inside Andros Island. Microbiologist Dr. Steffi Schwabe, Andrew White and the underwater cameraman descend the depths of the hole into water so caustic that it can burn the skin.
