The Saints rocker Iain Shedden dies

Musician and journalist Iain Shedden has died, aged 60.
Shedden rose to fame as the drummer of Australian band The Saints before embarking on a career in journalism, writing for The Australian newspaper for more than two decades. Editors at the publication announced his death on Monday (16Oct17).
Shedden played with The Saints sporadically throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, but reunited with his old bandmates last year.
However, the British-born star was perhaps best known as a music critic, and over the course of his career interviewed stars including David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Patti Smith and Kylie Minogue.
The Australian editor-in-chief Paul Whittaker led tributes to Shedden, describing him as a “much loved and respected colleague” and a friend to many.
“He was as brilliant a friend as he was a journalist and will be deeply missed,” he stated.
Details around Shedden’s death are yet to be made public. He is survived by his wife, Christine, and their children Molly, 18, and Conor, 16.
