Synopsis

An engaging comedy-mystery about a couple of eccentric mystery writers, a spinster and her widowed sister, who turn detective to hunt down the killer of a faded movie star (Paulette Goddard, who came out of retirement to play the role) with the help of their ex-con bodyguard/chauffeur, hired by their police lieutenant nephew to keep them out of trouble. This was the pilot for the brief series (1973-74): four episodes as rotating elements of the "NBC Tuesday Mystery Movie." Actresses Hayes and Natwick distinguished the series and were joined by actor/director Lou Antonio and game show host Bert Convy in the two roles originated by Art Carney and Lawrence Pressman.
