The Time Tunnel | 1966
The series is set at Tic Toc Base, a concealed underground lab in Arizona, the secret location of the Time Tunnel, a $7.5 billion U.S. government project concerned with time displacement.
When scientist Tony Newman discovers that government officials are considering scrapping the project because they have not yet sent a man back into time, he takes matters into his own hands and enters the tunnel's psychedelic portal chamber. Within seconds he disappears and is sent into time--"yesterday, today, or tomorrow--or a million years from now."
Because Tony had previously taken a radioactive bath, engineers are able to pinpoint his whereabouts and receive his voice and image through the Time Tunnel's recorders. However, their ability to control his destiny or return him to the present (1968) has not been mastered.
When discovering that Tony has been sent back in time to April 14, 1912, as an unregistered passenger on the disaster-bound Titanic, scientist Doug Phillips enters the Time Tunnel in an attempt to save Tony, who, though of the present, is affected by events of the past or future.
When Doug finds Tony, the two are frozen by Time Tunnel engineers, removed from danger, and sent into time. Stories depict the experiences of scientists Tony Newman and Doug Phillips, travelers lost in time.
