Animated series, based on Todd McFarlane's comic book of the same name, which is the story of CIA operative Al Simmons, who dies violently in the line of duty. Unable to handle the sorrow of parting from his wife Wanda, he cuts a deal with the devil Malebolgia for a second chance on Earth, without grasping the consequences of his decision. Returned to the living world five years after his death, without his memories, he has become Spawn, a soldier of evil with incredible powers. As he struggles to understand his new existence, he must do the bidding of the forces who brought him back -- an obligation he is not certain he wants to fulfill. Spawn is also faced with the pain of discovering that his wife has remarried and learning some unsettling truths about his own death. Along the way, he encounters the Mafia, government traitors, crooked politicians, other hell-sent adversaries, and some unlikely allies.
In the third season, Spawn continues to be tormented by the menacing Clown. He begins to learn more about the nature of his powers, including the secrets of the red cloak that enshrouds him, giving him strength yet limiting his freedom. He starts to trust Cogliostro, who mentors Spawn about his powers and the new choices he will have to make; Cogliostro confides in Spawn about his medieval past and his own experiences as a soldier of evil. As the police draw closer to solving the murders in the alley, they discover Spawn's human identity. Also researching the crimes in the alley is investigative reporter Lisa Wu, who may not be what she appears.
