TV STUFF: More Leno Tonight

Jay Leno will have his job until the year 2005.

NBC announced Wednesday that it has renewed the late night talker’s contract to the end of 2005, according to Reuters.

“I love this job,” Leno said. “The negotiations took 20 minutes.”

The dollar amount of the deal was not disclosed. However, Leno did use the word “generous” in describing the network’s offer.

A BONDING MOMENT: James Bond is returning to his TV home.

The Hollywood Reporter says that ABC and MGM have struck a $30 million deal that will bring 13 classic 007 films back to the network.

The deal will be in place until September 2002. There’s no word on what the network will do with the films, but it is rumored that it will be broadcast over a two-week period in a promotional scheme.

The 13 titles are: “Dr. No” (1962), “From Russia With Love” (1963), “Goldfinger” (1964), “Thunderball ” (1965), “You Only Live Twice” (1967), “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” (1969),” Diamonds Are Forever” (1971), “Live and Let Die” (1973), “The Man With the Golden Gun” (1974), “The Spy Who Loved Me” (1977), “Moonraker” (1979), “For Your Eyes Only” (1981) and “Octopussy” (1983).
